About Us

For years I had looked for a breed of dog that I wanted to show and later on breed from. Coming from a farming background I really enjoyed having sheepdogs, but for some reason I ended up with three skye terriers!

After leaving the farming background and heading to the big smoke to further my education I decided that it was time to leave the dogs behind. However, it didn't take me long to want a puppy again.

Because I liked the look of the skye terrier, I wanted a breed that looked similar as far as coat went... but not on two inch legs!

After a lot of searching I found a photo of the dog that I wanted. The search took me to Angevin kennels.

Angevin Kennels has been breeding Briards in New Zealand over the last thirty years.

Briards have only been in New Zealand for about 35 years, and there are only two kennels here that have kept the briards alive.

Since the retirement of Angevin Kennel we feel privileged to carry on the breeding in New Zealand.

We have been showing our briards around the South Island and really enjoy it. We plan to import in the future from the United Kingdom and Canada for the foundation stock for our kennels. Our goal is to breed top quality briards that have good confirmation with excellent health and above all great temperaments. Our goal is not just to do well in the show ring but to produce good family pets to be enjoyed by all. Briards are extremely rare in New Zealand so we are very happy to answer your questions.
